Today I wish
to offer
three simple tools
to help those of us
who are having
an especially “off” day.
Three fresh ideas
or strategies
for your back pocket
at the ready
in advance of your need.
Difficult days arrive
out of nowhere
for new widowed people,
or long-time widowed people.
A sad or weepy day can show up without warning.
Consider
trying
one of
these ideas:
ONE
Take a short walk in nature to figure it out.
Mother Nature nurtures us when we turn to her. Taking a walk when sorting out feelings, a course of action, or a complicated decision, can be a game-changer.
TWO
Help another person.
A beautiful way to get space from yukky feelings or a difficult day is to do a kindness for another. Consider writing a note to tell a friend, family member, or neighbor why you appreciate them. If you know of someone who’s been struggling, try texting them this:
“Just thinking of you and hoping you’re having a good day.”
THREE
Offer the gift of words.
Use a card, a piece of lined paper, or a small paper bag folded in half to write a gift of words and send the note to your friend. It can be as simple as this:
“Just a quick note to let you know how much I appreciate you! Thanks for being you.”
The rule is: Take what you need and leave the rest.
What ideas
would you add
to the list?
Keep going . . . it gets better.
