In 2021 I was gifted a book written by Laura Lynn Jackson named SIGNS: The Secret Language of the Universe. The author is a psychic medium who penned the New York Times bestseller The Light Between Us: Stories from Heaven, Lessons for the Living.
I found Laura Lynne unique among other mediums I’d met.
Before my husband died, I became interested in psychic readings, but Laura Lynn seemed different.
You don’t need a psychic medium to communicate with loved ones who have passed. If we open our minds and our hearts, we will begin to see the signs and messages they send for us to feel their presence in our everyday lives. ―
At the Night of Light: Connecting to the Other Side in San Diego, on March 24, three hundred people showed up, all wishing to hear from the other side. I was there with my friend wishing the same thing.
Our loved ones did not come through.
You might be wondering how it works when someone does come through and I have one word to describe it: questions. Through a series of questions the psychic determines who the person on the other side is trying to reach.
When I read, I go very close to what I call the veil. And they come very close, so it’s almost like this meeting room I go into on my screen and I can kind of feel and glance everything that’s on the other side as I’m connecting with it . . . the other side is a place of love, and connection, and peace. https://www.eliseloehnen.com/episodes/laura-lynne-jackson-touching-the-other-side
The evening was beautiful in so many ways. I felt a sense of camaraderie among those in attendance. Laura Lynn was friendly and relaxed, but with intense focus. It was fascinating to watch as she scanned the room, getting “pulled” this way or that by loved ones who felt an urgency to connect.
Feeling an urgency to connect . . . this is something I now think about daily. It makes sense to me that Dan wants to be with me as much as I long to be with him. My new way of being is:
Simply watch for signs, feel the resonance, and then say thank you.
It was deeply moving to witness others receiving a connection to their loved one for the first time. I could see the love and vulnerability in their faces. Hearing their responses to the questions from Laura and hearing expressions of gratitude from the other side was deeply touching.
Don’t worry.
I am okay.
Please forgive me.
I’m still with you.
Call on me.
At the end of the evening Laura Lynn said,
For those whose person did not come through, I know your loved ones are ticked off at me for passing them over, so I want to talk to all of you who did not get a reading tonight. Ask your loved one for a sign. If you asked them for a sign that comes regularly to you, ask them for a new sign.”
I asked. The very next morning, I received it.
So quickly, in fact, that I barely recognized it as an answer.
Okay, Dan. I know you’ve been sending monarch butterflies to me (thank you!) but I want to ask you to show me a leaf from the Gingko Biloba tree.
The morning after Laura Lynn’s gallery reading, I had a work appointment with my friend and colleague at 9:00am. This was my first time visiting her office. Facing the door was a wall with a hand-painted mural.
My tree! I exclaimed. My tree is on your wall!
As you can see, this new tree (which I met last December and planted in my yard this spring) so surprised me that I forgot I asked for it as a sign.
Sitting with my friend for a few moments it (finally!) occurred to me: The leaf of this resilient tree, a tree known as a living fossil, is the sign I asked Dan to bring. And boy, did he respond!
I am not an expert with after-death-communication. Yet, all my life my family modeled watching for signs and holding our dead relatives close. Laura Lynn’s stories expanded a belief I’ve always felt: Our loved ones are still near.
Losing our person is something we are never prepared for. It is like no other loss I have experienced. Watching for Dan’s presence in a new way has been comforting. I sense that as I pay attention, and learn more about this phenomena, much more will be revealed in time.
“Sometimes, the sign is the whisper in our heart, the deep and undeniable pull, the inherent knowing that the answer is already there…. If we are open to this, it will truly enrich our lives. Because life is so much more than we can see in this dimension.” ― Laura Lynne Jackson
