It’s been a “mundane” but productive week filled with property-related distractions; the homestead matters that call for care and maintenance, those things that keep me grounded, literally. The tasks of making sure my foundation is secure.
I kind of like weeks like that. Nose-to-the-grindstone kind of stuff.
Fortunately, I found out this week that I don’t need a new well, just need to upgrade filtration and we also purchased a countertop distiller as that is said to produce the best drinking water.
A third round of tree and limb removal will soon take place; not an inexpensive task when you are dealing with mature camphors and ancient Live Oak. That will always be an ongoing process as the oaks reach their maturity. Although beautiful, they also need to be maintained for safety and aesthetic purposes. Once that’s done, we will bring in a truckload of crushed limestone to refresh the landscape that also is in need of new plantings and flowers.
Over at the canal-front property, a new installation of palm trees; Queen, Adonidia and Fox Tail, thrive among colorful ground foliage. That home that I said, “I want no part of,” upon my first walk-through has been quietly and dramatically transformed over the past half-year! I’m glad I didn’t listen to myself. With 150 feet of dockage on a canal that leads to the St. John’s River I now allow myself to truly appreciate that setting that can be enjoyed year-round, something I could never do up north. It is a natural paradise.
And… that home is in need of leveling I’m told so an estimate will take place this week! A reminder that balance in all matters is key.
And of course the new puppy is thriving. She is playful and healthy and is putting on a pound a week on her tiny body. She has weaseled into our lives here and we now have a sweet pack of four dogs and Jackson has decided to adopt her! Winnie from Winn Dixie, my clean-up on Aisle Life!

I received some Memoir Coaching earlier this week and continue to work on that project with a new energy. That year-long drafting process has also been a good grounding practice and a good step in the on-going Moving Forward process that is so important to help make sense things.
Easter, like all holidays, inevitably reminds me of the six family members no longer with me, my Spirit Team Six. Each day I have a talk with one, or more of them, and often they start that conversation! I find by treating a holiday like any other day is helpful. I put the focus on my pack as they’ve become our family, and this year I reached out to many by phone, and online, and found that connecting with those who’ve been in my life for “eons” is very therapeutic and has new meaning. I am trying to make a practice of that.

Next week I will be visiting north for personal and business matters and as it’s been 3 years, I look forward to a brief return when I will be selling off the last property owned by my parents, the place where I resided when I’d met my late husband, Rich.
Have a great week. Remember to always do the best with what you have in the moment. Day by day it goes.
