Do you ever have one of those days when you think that nothing, NOTHING could top the last stupid thing that happened to you?
Today was one of those days.
I had three very stupid, and potentially painful, items in my mailbox.
All three were from our government.
I will refrain from saying any more on that.
The first piece was from Social Security. They tend to send a lot of forms, just to make sure their money (?!) is being well spent. Or well saved.
It was a form for me to fill out stating that my 16 year old son was not…. I repeat, NOT….married.
I’m wondering if they know something that I don’t?
I guess I’ll have to scrutinize his comings and goings a bit closer.
After I fill out the form.
After I have a long talk with him.
The second piece was from the IRS. This form made me hyperventilate (they have a way of doing that and I think they get great joy from it). It seems that they were not happy that I sent my quarterly estimated tax payment a week late and now they want the entire amount.
Funny, they didn’t return my check.
I can say funny now, but at the time I was hyperventilating I was also crying.
It’s been a tough day.
I didn’t need that.
The third piece of mail just stunned me.
For a bit.
It was, as so many are, addressed to Jim.
It’s been a year and a half.
I hear he might get mail for the next 30 years.
Sometimes the mail that’s addressed to him makes me cry. Sometimes it makes me angry.
Today, once I got past stunned…. I burst out laughing.
It seems that Jim has been summoned for jury duty.
I really, REALLY hope they put out a warrant for his arrest when he doesn’t show up.
🙂
