If you’ve been reading my posts every Friday, you’ll know that the last couple weeks have had a lot of kitty health issues. Thursday evening Freya and I made the trip one hour north to Eugene, Oregon for a life-saving blood transfusion at an ER vet (side note: I never really thought about cats donating blood, but big shout out to the cats who do!). I quickly booked a hotel and when I knew she would need to stay another day added another night.
Originally that week would’ve played out very differently. I would’ve gone to the coast midweek with my little trailer and returned Saturday. Turns out, I really did get to go out of town, but for a very different reason. I’m glad that Freya’s illness did not come to a crescendo when I was away on a trip.
I couldn’t even really enjoy Eugene, which is a place that I normally like to do shopping and other activities, because I was so stressed out. I did at least treat myself to dinner on Friday night and checked out a vegan café that I’ve never been to (it was decent).
Saturday, the Emergency veterinarian ran another blood test and the transfusion made her stable enough that we could go home. Everyone did an excellent job at the ER. I even talked with one of the vet techs who did her transfusion and they said everyone loved her and she was, “the star of the show”.
I was pretty exhausted by the time we got back as I hadn’t really been sleeping well at the hotel.
I’m sure Freya was very glad to be home. decided she wanted to lay on my bed. I thought that was a great idea and I laid down too and next thing I knew I’d been asleep for two hours.
The only other thing I did that day was laundry and make an appointment with the local vet for a follow up blood test.
Sunday Freya had perked up a little bit, so I was super hopeful that she was on the road to recovery. I ended up doing my usual trip over to my mom‘s house and just tried to relax and recuperate for the rest of the weekend.
Understandably, this week started off with me being very behind with work activities, but I have some really great clients so I’m thankful for that. I’ve spent the week trying to catch up on things.
I did get the results of the follow up blood test for Freya and she is trending in the right direction. Fingers crossed she makes a full recovery 🤞.
I’m hoping to catch up a little this weekend and then get back into a healthy balance, managing stress, better, and feeling a little more normal than the past couple weeks.
